How to make a website?

We daily browse through web to feed on information, updates or just to feel stay connected with rest of the world behind the screen. Sometimes you might have thought “I must have one website too” your own identity on this web.
But what stops you from doing so???
Right and directed information. If i am right?

Check out, what you have to do to make a website of your own?


5 years back i too thought so, struggled through messed up information. Now i have more than 20 websites running around the web. Latest one is http://bioinformatics.co.nr/ dedicated to my core discipline subject. I am doing all this just as a hobby. So nothing professional here. No fees :D

I can say if you do a google search for “make a website” you will get 32 million results but none of them provide what you are looking for.

Here I am providing you a fast track. If folllowed properly you will be coming up with one of your web identity by the end.

1. I know most of you people here hate programming. So no worry,I won’t say you to go back and learn HTML ,CSS, JS or any such alien thing.

2. First thing to make your own website. You must be clear with what your site is going to be about.

3. Once clear with Basic theme idea, You must check your pocket money. Are you willing to pay or a need a free site?

4. I got that, you need a free first. Though if you are ready to pay you can buy a domain name like www.yoursite.com
It won’t be costlier than $ 10 a year. Free website hosts will not be providing you domain, but a subdomain it will be looking like what my website has www.howto.totalh.com. “howto” is a free subdomain. and totalh.com is my web site hosts.

5. Why do you need website hosts? Once your site is ready you need someone to keep your files on their server so that people can access it from anywhere in the world.

6. Now come in play. After a thorough analysis i found out that www.webs.com and www.weebly.com are best website hosts for free user. They provide you with fair bandwidth, choice to choose customized theme design and look. Easy drag and drop content for page. Even you can convert your website in a money making machine with google adsense and adbrite ads.

7. There you can design anything, look of your site, content layout and much more. I first started with geocities long back and my first website is quite dead even geocities have decided to shutdown their server by September. So the options i provided in point 6 are best in my sense.

8. If you are little comfortable with html coding atleast, website creation is just a cake walk for you. You can add much more better features to site.

9. Blogging or Website creation? Basically these two are quite confusing term for anybody. A website is more of static kind and little less frequently updated. It constitute of pages written in html or php or some other languages. While blogs are created using blogging software like wordpress, drupal or joomla etc. blogs constitute of posts and pages. frontpage in a blog generallly contains a list of recent posts with newest posts at the top. You can add a blog to your website but not vice versa.

What you can achive by making a website of your own.

1. Humans are altruistic species. So necessarily you desire, If anyone searches your name on web they must not get a page saying “The Name you sarched can not be found on internet”. They must get all that information you want everybody to know about you.

2. Its your window to the world. You must be quite certain that lifetime is very short to meet everyone, to see all the places. to explore the world. So explore as much as you can.

Necessary things you must consider for making a better website.

1. Put a theme or layout which is friendly to visitors, lesser eye strain to them the better they will know you. I suppose the color scheme which i am using on my site doesn’t give you eye strain. Let me know if it’s.

2. Make site easy to navigate. Don’t clutter everything at a place, like i do with my room ;)

3. Use google analytics, Its a wonderful tool from google which tells you what visitors are doing on your site. which page they are watching for how long their location and lot more thing.

4. Let your visitor contact you.

5. Put a original picture of yours. It makes them feel more trustworthy and safe on your site.

6. Most important thing. Update your website regularly or else you will loose your regular readers. Tell me who wants to watch same sleeping words daily. Give them refreshment each time.

Later you can make money from your website or blog, once you got good reader scale for your site.
If you are getting a daily visitor count of 50 visitors a day, this traffic can be easily converted to money generating maching using ad service providers like google adsense, adbrite, adengage, linkworth etc.
